How a Simple Trespassing Call Turned Into A Police Arrest

On November 3rd, Aiken Police officers responded to an apartment complex following reports of an intoxicated male who had been removed earlier in the night but had returned. The situation quickly escalated as officers attempted to de-escalate the encounter. Bodycam footage captures the chaotic exchange between the suspect and responding officers, leading to an eventual arrest.

Police were called to the scene after a man, later identified as Peis Clark, attempted to retrieve his belongings from an apartment where he no longer resided. Despite being informed that this was a civil issue, Clark insisted that officers should assist him in gaining entry. As tensions grew, he repeatedly called non-emergency services, demanding action from both dispatchers and the officers on-site.

Clark’s behavior became increasingly erratic, with officers warning him multiple times about his disorderly conduct. His refusal to comply and continued verbal outbursts led officers to place him under arrest. During the arrest, Clark resisted, leading to a physical struggle in which officers had to subdue him. At one point, he accused officers of excessive force and racial bias while continuing to resist restraint.

After securing Clark, officers discovered he had previously been banned from all AMHA properties, further justifying his arrest for criminal trespassing. Additional charges included disorderly conduct, obstructing official business, resisting arrest, and misuse of the 911 system. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of compliance during police interactions and the consequences of misusing emergency services.
